Isidro Mendoza 78, passed away on Aug. 31, 2014, at Humboldt General Hospital in Winnemucca, Nev., with his family by his side.
Isidro was born June 18, 1936, in Coalcoman Michoacan, Mexico, to Febronio Mendoza and Biatriz Rodriguez.
He moved to California in 1965 and later became a resident of Nevada in 1970 where he worked for the Railroad and later moved onto mining until his retirement. Isidro was a member of the Knights of Columbus of St. Paul's Catholic Church as well as a member of the Associacion de Charros. He loved traveling and spending time with his family. He was known for his great generosity not only to his family but to complete strangers and anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife Rosa Elena Mendoza to whom he was married for 53 years. His children: Luis Mendoza (Lori), Rosa Solis (Jesus), Leticia Bernal , Carol Flores (Byron), Eddy Mendoza (Becci). Grandchildren: Phoebe and Grace Mendoza, Mary Ellen, Vanessa, Aimee and Andrew CastaƱeda, Bianca and Alexis Bernal, Lewis, Abby, and Mateo Flores, Brylie, Jorden and Zabian Mendoza, Grace Jones. Great-grandchildren: Isabella and Grace Sandoval, Sofia Acevedo, Krew Alvarado. Siblings: Emma Avalos, Martha Delaney, Jovita Galvan, Encarnacion, Hilda and Ismael Mendoza, including numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his sister Maria de Jesus Alvarez and his parents.
Funeral Services provided by Sonoma Funeral Home of Winnemucca.
Church services will be at St. Paul's Catholic Church on Saturday Sept. 6, 2014, with Rosary at 10:30 and Mass at 11 a.m. A family reception will follow at the Winnemucca Fairgrounds at 1 pm.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank those individuals who gave their time to visit and sit with him regularly, those who helped with his daily care and for all the good wishes and prayers from everyone during this difficult time.
As we say goodbye to a husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, we take great comfort in the knowledge that his legacy will be remembered by all those whose lives he's touched. We know he was loved and will be greatly missed.
