Denio-area wildfire contained at 842 acres

WINNEMUCCA - Fire crews from the Bureau of Land Management, Denio Volunteer Fire Department and Wildfire Support Group Resources responded to a vegetation fire off of state Route 140 near mile marker 47 on Friday afternoon.

According to BLM fire officials in Winnemucca, the wildfire spread rapidly and briefly threatened two houses and four outbuildings. The fire was contained Friday evening at about 7 p.m. at 842 acres. Crews remained overnight monitoring the fire.

The fire was human-caused and is still under investigation, BLM officials said.
