Dead body found in Kingston Pond

No foul play suspected

The body of a deceased male in his late 60s was found face down in Kingston Pond Aug. 13 by a nearby resident, said Becky Johnson, deputy coroner for the Lander County Sheriff's Office.

No foul play is suspected, Johnson said. The body was not identified as of Aug. 18.

A cause of death will not be known for six to eight weeks, she added.

The body is believed to have been in the pond for two to three days.

The call came in at 11:13 a.m. on Aug. 13 and Deputy Coroner Cpl. Dennis Lowe showed up on scene and pronounced the man dead at 11:24 a.m., Johnson said.

The sheriff's office is the lead investigating agency.

Kingston is located around 30 miles south of Austin on Highway 376. The 2010 census has its population at 113 residents but the town has a lot of part-time residents.
