Darrell Edward Wonacott passed away Jan. 2, 2013, at the age of 80. He was born in East Alton, Ill., on March 28, 1932, to Dorothea Saylor and Edward Wonnacott. Darrell's family moved to Nevada in 1945 and attended high school in Pershing County, and then in 1964 he moved to Alaska where he met his wife, Grace C Chris. In 2005, he moved back to Winnemucca.
Darrell joined the U.S. Air Force in 1958 at the age of 24 years old and survived as a Radar Specialist and was honorably discharged in 1960. Darrell was self-employed as a salesman most of his life. He served as Deacon of St. Paul's Catholic Church. He loved to work with disabled students at numerous elementary schools in the county. His hobbies were fishing, magic, ESP and in his later years taking care of the love of his life Chris. He also loved the time he was involved in his church.
Darrell is survived by his son, David Wonnacott, grandchildren Stevi and Nichole, brother Gary Martinez, sister Dolores Montes and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by spouse Chris Wonnacott, son Darrell Wonnacott Jr., mother Dorthea Saylor and father Edward Wonnacott.

There will be a memorial mass Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Winnemucca.
