Danny Dean Ratliff

Danny Dean Ratliff, 70 years of age, passed away in Reno, Sept. 26, 2011, at the VA Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Danny was born Aug. 11, 1941, in Lusk, Wyo., son of Zella Wintermote Ratliff and James B. Ratliff. Danny attended Morton High school, where he played football and ran Track, and later graduated in 1960.

Later that fall he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served on the USS Ranger until 1964. During his time in Wyoming, he worked numerous road jobs and in the Uranium Mines. He was also involved with the Pavillion and Midvale Volunteer Fire Departments.

Later in life he moved to Nevada, where he would find work at Brown and Root and later Pinson Mine. In the summer of 1988 he found the love of his life Leslie, they were married in 1989 in Golconda. Danny and his family resided in Winnemucca for many years.

Danny enjoyed wood working, yard work, and building things, and taking his dog Taffy for rides. He had a sense of humor, and could make you laugh if you were having a bad day, no matter what the situation was.

He is preceded in death by his dad, Jim and his wife, Leslie. He is survived by his mother, Zella Ratliff, brother Larry Ratliff, his sisters, Billie (Doug) Hardy, and Geraldine (John) Dewey and also his daughter, Brandy (John) Whala.

Danny had many friends and family members that are going to miss him dearly.

Services will be at 2pm Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at Albertsons Funeral Home. Reception to follow, place will be announced after the service.
