WINNEMUCCA - Winnemucca will indulge in a little nostalgic fun this summer as the sixth annual "Winnemucca Cruise Nights" return to downtown.
Cruise Night hearkens back to a more carefree time in the 1950s and 1960s when the cruising culture was at its peak.
In Winnemucca, Cruise Night has become once-a-month Thursday evening tradition, with showcase cars and bikes parked along Bridge Street, while vendors and businesses share their wares.
The year's cruise season will kick off on Thursday, May 9, in the downtown Winnemucca corridor.
The city of Winnemucca closes Bridge Street from Fourth Street to Winnemucca Boulevard, and from Winnemucca Boulevard to Second Street each week in order to support the event. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., vehicles may enter Bridge Street from Second Street or Fourth Street only.
On May 9, Cruise Night will be hosted by The Wild Bunch Motorcycle Club. The Northern Nevada Racing Association will play host on June 6, with the Battle Mountain Burners on July 11, the Winnemucca Regional Racing Association on Aug. 1, and the Koyote Kruisers closing out the season on Sept. 12.
There is no charge to enter the "Cruise Nights" area. All local residents are invited to attend.
