Dear parents:
It is test time! The CRT tests will be given on the mornings of March 26 through the 29th in third grade. The CRT test is an overall measure of achievement as well as a measure of mastery in the basic skills of reading, mathematics and Language Arts. These tests are designed to measure important learning outcomes of the school curriculum and identify students who might require additional assistance in order to maintain normal academic progress through elementary and secondary school.
There are several things you can do during testing week to insure your child's best performance:
1. Stress the importance of attending school on testing days. (Data shows make up scores are lower.)
2. Make sure your child goes to bed at a proper time.
3. Eating good meals is important, especially breakfast.
4. Discuss the importance of these tests with your child. It is a part of their permanent records, and in fourth and eighth grades, is used as the State Competency Test.
5. Eliminate as much stress as possible. A happy child will have a good testing attitude.
Thanks for your cooperation. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to come in or call me at 635-2889.
