LOVELOCK - In May of 1978 Frank and Sandra Myers purchased the Crazy Corners Saloon.

It was located on Interstate 80 and had a gas station, convenience store and bar. They sold groceries, hunting licenses and sporting goods. Even the building next to them was occupied with a feed store. Everyone knew about Crazy Corners.

In the early 1980s when Interstate 80 bypassed Lovelock, a majority of the traffic flow was depleted and, thus, Frank and Sandra made the decision to shut down everything but the bar.

With a little remodeling, they turned the store into a dance hall and office, which very few people even realize is there.

Frank and Sandra have seen a lot of changes over the last 35 years. But one thing that has stayed consistent is the friendships that they have acquired.

When people sit down at the bar for a cold one, whether it be one of the coldest beers you have ever had or a glass of soda, you feel like you are at home. That's how they like it. After all, it is an extension of their home.

Some of their customers are either second or third generation. They remember stopping there on the school bus to get a snack after school. Getting a bag of popcorn from the machine that came from the Lovelock Show House, waiting for the day when they could sit down at the bar like the grown ups.

"I guess you could call Crazy Corners a staple in this town. It's a place where you can warm up by the big open fire in the winter, sweat your butt off in the summer and enjoy yourself any day of the year," said Julie Myers, Frank and Sandra's daughter-in-law.

"We would like to give a big thank you to all our friends and family who have been by our side for these last 35 years. We look forward to 35 more," she added.

To thank their loyal patrons the Myers' are planning a party at Crazy Corners for its 35th anniversary on Saturday, April 27, at 4 p.m.

"There will be food, fun and friends," Myers said.[[In-content Ad]]
