Humboldt County commissioners will meet beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 20. Public comment on issues not appearing on the agenda is allowed both at the beginning and at the end of the regularly scheduled meeting.
Agenda items include:
• Administrative report including authorization for the chairman to sign a sheriff's office grant application, approval of a new water distribution budget for 2014-2015 season, approval of amendment to the pictometry contract and approval of the Community Development Block Grant quarterly project report.
• 9:45 - 2015 Community Development Block Grant program planning
• 9:50 - Request for a county contribution for the 2015 Drug Free Graduation Party.
• 10:00 - Nuisance issues including the continuation of a public hearing on the nuisance complaint at 4225 Rainbow Road and review of progress on nuisance abatement order on property located at 3105 Valley Way.
• 10:15 - Potential county acquisition of the water system from Star City Property Owners Association.
• 10:30 - Planning matters - a zone change application requesting change from single family residential zoning with 6,000 square foot minimum lot size to multiple family district. The property is located off Bonnefield Street.
• 10:40 - The commissioners will discuss possible comments the county may submit regarding the EPA and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers proposed rule defining waters of the U.S. under the Clean Water Act.
• 11:00 - Road matters including future Nevada Department of Transportation projects and miscellaneous road matters.
• 11:15 - Presentation by Jo Malay, Director of Nursing for the State of Nevada Community Health System Nursing Program regarding services provided to Humboldt County.
• Update and presentation by POOL/PACT HR regarding the recruitment for the county administrator position.
• 1:30 - Joint meeting between the Humboldt County Commission and the Winnemucca City Council to talk with Jeremy Harrell from Senator Dean Heller's Office regarding public land issues including, but not limited to, the bill Senator Heller and Senator Reid have proposed, "The Northern Nevada Lands Conservation and Economic Development Act" and the Nevada Sagebrush Landscape Conservation and Economic Development second discussion draft.
Humboldt County Commission meetings are held in the upstairs meeting room at the courthouse.
In addition to the Humboldt County Commission meeting on Monday, there will be a Landfill Committee meeting beginning at 3 p.m. The Landfill Committee meeting will cover approval of the July 21 quarterly meeting minutes, the landfill quarterly recycling report and authorization for release of the recycling grant funds. There may be some further discussion of alternatives for billing commercial accounts, as well as miscellaneous matters relating to the Humboldt County Solid Waste Management District. Landfill Committee meetings are also held in the upstairs meeting room at the courthouse.
