Cookie bake-off winners announced

LOVELOCK - Christmas is the time of year when bakers bring out their signature cookies. This year a cookie bake off was sponsored by the Pershing County Senior Center and Eagle Picher Industries. Entries were taken to the Christmas Fair to be admired before they were judged. Winners were announced after the Parade of Light Dec. 3.

Eight local bakers, Karen Lee-Beaty, Margaret Montieth, Nikki Talcott, Allyse Lusby, Katie Gentry, Sherry Gentry, Toni Ransford and Ganice Garret entered the bake off.

Sherry Gentry took first place with her chocolate cookies with caramel inside. Gentry received $50 in Lovelock Loot for her first-place entry.

Nikki Talcott came in second place with her peanut butter cookies with a Hershey's kiss on top. Talcott received $35 in Lovelock Loot for her entry.

Toni Ransford's frosted lemon cookies were the third-place winner. She received $15 in Lovelock Loot for her prize.
