Commissioners to hear about 'fracking' at Monday meeting

Humboldt County Commissioners will hold its next meeting on Monday, Aug. 4 at 10 a.m. in the meeting room of the court house. Following the administrative report and public comments, the commission will set public hearings for nuisance complaints at 10:15 a.m.

At 10:30 a.m. commissioners will hold a public hearing on an ordinance to abolish the Information Technology Team and create the Humboldt County Information Technology Department; at 11 a.m. the commission will discuss road matters, including a request from Curtis Calder of the Gold Diggers Motorcycle Club for permission to stop and monitor traffic near Bottle Creek and Jungo Roads for a race on Nov. 16; report of pending road department projects and miscellaneous road matters.

At 11:10 a.m., commissioners will hear planning matters including a zoning chance request off of Westmoreland Road, and a final division into large parcels map in the name of Cossimo III.

Commissioners will hear a presentation from POOL/PACT Executive Director Jeanne Green regarding the county administrator recruitment process.

After a break, the commission will reconvene at 1:30 for a presentation by the State of Nevada Division of Minerals on hydraulic fracturing in Nevada, including history, current use and development of regulations (information only), and at 2 p.m. commissioners will review and possibly develop input regarding the second draft of the Reid/Heller Sage Grouse Wilderness Bill (Nevada Sagebrush Landscape Conservation and Economic Development Act of 2014).
