WINNEMUCCA - According to biologists and wildlife officials, rattlesnake numbers and encounters are going to be at an all time high this year due to the dry winter and warm temperatures.
Get Rattled - Rattlesnake Avoidance Training for Dogs is holding a training clinic in Winnemucca at the 4-H arena at 1085 Fairgrounds Road on Sunday, June 9. The clinic will run from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is sponsored by the Humboldt County 4-H program.
"They can see them, smell them, hear them, and they don't want any part of them because of that training," said Chris Healy, spokesperson for the Nevada Department of Wildlife.
Who is GetRattled? GetRattled is a partnership between John Potash, a licensed snake handler with 22 years of experience keeping and handling venomous snakes, and Willie Stevens, a professional dog trainer with over 20 years of dog training experience and judging.
