Civic Chorus pays tribute to the military

Two shows planned on May 31 and June 1 at Lowry auditorium

WINNEMUCCA - On the evenings of May 31 and June 1, The Winnemucca Civic Chorus will pay tribute to the brave men and women of the U.S. military with a concert of patriotic songs, including "Battle Cry of Freedom," "God Bless America," "Song for the Unsung Hero," "Yankee Doodle Dandy," "United We Stand," "America The Beautiful," "The Star Spangled Banner," a "Tribute to the Armed Services" and "Taps."

They would like to invite local residents to join them at the Lowry High School auditorium at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 31, and/or Saturday, June 1, for this must-see event.

If you have family in town for a graduation take a couple of hours out of your event to thank the people who have allowed you the freedoms to celebrate without cause; bring the whole family.

Admission is free for all military whether veteran or active duty. General admission is a suggested donation at the door.

Throughout history, men and women who tirelessly defend this country against "all enemies both foreign and domestic" have not been given the respect due them.

They have fought for freedom from tyranny to form this great country, America. They were once divided and fought, brother against brother, father against son for beliefs both sides believed were justified.

They have gone to foreign lands to keep us safe from those who threaten our freedom being separated from family and friends for long periods of time. They are scarcely rewarded yet continue to make those sacrifices for us.

As the saying goes, "freedom isn't free" lives have been lost injuries have been many and benefits few for those brave enough to answer the call to duty.

As one marine's wife states, "After they come home, there aren't enough thank yous for all they go through, but when there are it's nice to hear and it makes you feel proud."

So please show your support for the men and women of the armed services by attending one or both of these special concert performances Friday, May 31, and Saturday, June 1, at 7 p.m. at the Lowry High School auditorium.
