BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The Bureau of Land Management, Battle Mountain District (Mount Lewis and Tonopah Field offices) are selling permits for Christmas trees. Christmas tree permits are $3 per tree plus a $1 road maintenance fee and are good through Dec. 25, 2013.
Permits may be purchased at the Battle Mountain District Office at 50 Bastian Road, Battle Mountain and the Tonopah Field Office at 1553 S. Main St., Tonopah.
Only pinyon pine and juniper may be harvested for Christmas trees and trees may only be harvested on public lands outside of Wilderness Study Areas.
