Local children were rehearsing Wednesday for Saturday's (July 27) production of "Alice in Wonderland." Two performances are scheduled at Winnemucca Grammar School - one at 3 p.m. and one at 7 p.m. According to Jean Kinney, hometown chairperson for Missoula Children's Theater, a total of 56 children are involved in the production. Under the sponsorship of Northern Nevada Arts Council in Winnemucca, MCT conducts a week-long acting workshop for local children from first through 12th grade. "We have been sponsoring these workshops for nine years now," Kinney said. The workshops and performances are held at Winnemucca Grammar School, thanks to the principal, Doreen Kitras, Kinney said. Above left, Aimee Marsh and Amber Jorgensen, far left, sing along to "Come and join the dance." Above right, Kaya Huffaker leads the caterpillar dance during rehearsals for "Alice in Wonderland."
Michael Michealson took pictures of "Blackbeard the Pirate," at my request, because I am hoping that the Humboldt Sun will publish an article on that performance, AND the upcoming workshop and performances, which will start next Monday, July 22. This workshop will feature "Alice in Wonderland," and will also be held at WGS.
