Cheryl Ugaldea Semple 9-9-1945 to 10-10-2011
Cheryl died peacefully Monday morning Oct. 10 after living with Early Onset Alzheimer's for the last decade. She was 66 years old.
Cheryl was quite a lady. She was loved by all who knew her, and returned that love with compassion, empathy, sometimes a salty tongue, and always a broad laugh and bawdy sense of humor.
She had no patience for snobbery...or bigotry.
She made a home for her family in Oregon, Michigan, and finally in Encinitas, Calif. Her passions were books, kids, cats, and people - both strays and those with a pedigree. She was an expert seamstress and enjoyed knitting and cross-stitching. She spent years collecting ancient samplers made by young girls in past centuries. She returned to college later in life to finish her degree in English. Her love of literature was manifest in becoming a librarian and a bookseller.
She loved her family very much and they adored her.
She was predeceased by her father Charles Ugaldea and is survived by her mother Jeanette Ugaldea of Winnemucca, Cheryl's hometown. Also her husband Tom, daughter Katy, son Tim, son-in-law Dan, daughter-in-law Julie, brother Tim, and sister-in-law Kath. And of course wee Bea Frances, her beautiful (almost) three year old granddaughter who Cheryl would have loved dearly and spoiled relentlessly.
A service to honor her life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, Nov. 5, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 350 Melarkey St., Winnemucca, NV, (775) 623-2928.
