WINNEMUCCA - The Humboldt Sun and CB Brown Furniture have teamed up to bring the first-ever Operation Easter Coloring Contest to Winnemucca.
Coloring contest entries will be published in The Humboldt Sun beginning today, with a new coloring blank each week. Entry forms and coloring blanks have also been distributed to local schools and day care centers. The contest is open to children in three age groups: 0 - 3 years, 4 - 8 years and 9 - 13 years.
Completed entries should be turned in to CB Brown Furniture, 221 S. Bridge Street. They will be on display there until the contest ends on Saturday, March 23. After March 23, entries will be collected and judged by The Humboldt Sun staff by age category - factoring in creativity, color application and neatness. One winner from each age group will receive a prize, to be awarded at the Operation Easter event on Saturday, March 30.
Operation Easter is the brainchild of Kathi Wolfsteller, who launched the campaign last year when there was no Easter egg hunt in town. In addition to egg hunts for each of the three age categories, the day will include a wide variety of free family-centered activities and games overseen by local youth groups, civic groups and clubs.
If you or your group is interested in helping with Operation Easter, contact Kathi Wolfsteller at: operationeaster@hotmail.com or call her directly at (775) 304-5033.
