LOS ANGELES - ScrapDV Executive Director JoAnn Casalez and board member Kareen Prentice attended the 41st Annual Peace over Violence Humanitarian Awards in Los Angeles, an event that honored AMC's "Mad Men." Casalez is the former executive director of Winnemucca Domestic Violence Services, a position she held from January of 2010 until leaving this past June. Now, she runs an innovative program, Scrap Domestic Violence Inc. (ScrapDV), which began with an idea to use scrap steel as a funding source for domestic violence purposes. Mining, industrial, and manufacturing companies, along with private donors, entrust ScrapDV to combine their gifts with the contributions of others to invest in innovative and proven domestic violence programs to create lasting, empowering change. The process of investing through this fund includes an informed review by ScrapDV's dedicated, trained members who help to ensure the most positive impact possible with the dollars invested. The ScrapDV Grants Program is how the organization makes strategic investments to drive measurable, effective, sustainable change for domestic violence awareness programs in Nevada. ScrapDV plans on ending domestic violence, beginning in Nevada, by saying "No More Domestic Violence, Know More."[[In-content Ad]]
