Caroline 'Cy' Rodrigues

Caroline "Cy" Rodrigues died peacefully in her home on March 14, 2012. She was the eldest of 10 children born to John and Caroline Aufdermaur in Lovelock on Nov. 13, 1930. Cy retired from Bishop Gorman High School after 25 years as the Comptroller. She spent her retirement years volunteering as a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church community and devoting her time to various ministries. She was active in the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, holding numerous offices for 50 years.

She was a courageous woman who enriched the lives of countless through her strength and integrity and was considered "Mom" by many who were not her offspring. Caroline possessed a rare zest for life combining a warm sense of humor, a loving heart, and a disposition with the capacity to be tough as nails. As a very spiritual person she was a devout Catholic who loved the Lord. Since moving to Las Vegas in 1951, she made many friends and was a charter member of the "Motley Crew."

However, she was most proud of her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Joe, daughters Vikki Rodrigues and Patti (Allen) Puliz, sons Tony (Mary) Rodrigues, Tom (Alicia) Rodrigues, all of Las Vegas and Danny (Maria) Rodrigues of Fairfield, Calif. , 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, Sisters Annie Raber of Floriston, Calif., Jane McKibben of Reno, Katie McKibben of Paradise, Calif., Virginia Rose of Lovelock, Brothers John Aufdermaur of Lovelock and Carl Aufdermaur of Dallas, Texas, and countless other adoring family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sister Josie Graham and Brothers Daniel & Robert Aufdermaur

All friends and family are invited to celebrate Caroline's remarkable life. Viewing was held on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. with Rosary beginning at 6 p.m. at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. The Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at St. Anne's Catholic Church at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Bishop Gorman High School and Nathan Adelson Hospice. Memories of Caroline will leave smiles on the faces of many.
