Caregiver Awareness Month

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Editor,

Did you know that November is Caregiver Awareness Month for Relay for Life?

At Relay for Life events, we celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. And, for every survivor and loved one celebrated and remembered, there was at least one caregiver beside them through their journey. A caregiver is anyone who has provided daily care for someone with cancer, such as a family member, friend, or healthcare professional. They also provide assistance or support such as emotional support, transportation, helping with chores or providing meals. Each is a caregiver who deserves the opportunity to be thanked and recognized. All caregivers are important!

I know from personal experience that without my caregivers, it would have been much harder for me to get through the challenges that come with having cancer.

So, we at Relay for Life of Winnemucca would like to say a huge "thank you" to all of the caregivers out there.

If you would like more information on how to become involved in Relay for Life as a participant, survivor, caregiver or have your own team, please contact Kayla Jonas at (775) 283-8390 or kaylajrelay@hotmail.com.
