Buster High, age 65 of Winnemucca, died in a small plane crash near Green River, Wyo., on April 12, 2012.

Buster was born in Enid, Okla., on Nov. 18, 1946, to James and Mary High. Buster graduated from Morton High School in Wyoming in 1965 and four years later earned a B.S. in Agriculture from the University of Wyoming. Buster married Carol Winchester in 1966.

Buster was a high school agricultural teacher in Yerington until 1976 and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of all of his students. Buster and Carol together raised their daughters in Yerington. He went on to own and operate a custom farming business in Yerington before finally relocating to Winnemucca in 1998. Most recently, he owned and operated two small businesses; Winnemucca Air Service and B High Mobile Repair.

Buster is survived by his wife, Carol of Winnemucca, his two children, Kristin Ashby of Mesa, Ariz., and Nicole Jacques of Denver, Colo., his father James of Sidney, Neb., brother Joe High of Corpus Christi, Texas and sister Jimmie Vrazsity of Denver, Colo. He is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as one of Buster's greatest wishes was to find a cure for his granddaughter.

Services will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the East Hall of the Winnemucca Convention Center.
