Buckaroo Wrestling Club finishes fifth at High Desert Challenge Team earns six first-place honors

WINNEMUCCA - The Buckaroo Wrestling Club was on its home turf as part of the High Desert Challenge at the Winnemucca Event Center Feb. 25 - 26.

There were over 25 teams from northern Nevada, California and Idaho, with a total of 495 entries. The Buckaroo Wrestling Club earned 32 medals and finished fifth as a team. Ruby Mountain (Spring Creek) was first, followed by the Elko Wrestling Club, Spanish Springs and Battle Mountain.

Dillon Cook finished first in both the freestyle and folkstyle divisions in the 87-pound intermediate division. Coda Nichols and Hunter Smith were first in the freestyle bantam division at 40 and 75 pounds, respectively. Taylor Corak placed first in the 65-pound intermediate division in folkstyle and Trase Bell won the 88-pound freestyle cadet division.

Roan Hornbarger picked up a second-place finish in the 55-pound rookie division in folkstyle and Trent McKellips was second in the freestyle intermediate division at 103 pounds.

Gabe Molina turned in two third-place finishes at 132 pounds in the cadet division in freestyle and folkstyle, as did Nate Nelson at the 120-pound junior division. Felix Munoz (45-pound bantam) and Jared Carrica (205-pound cadet) were third in the freestyle division, while Ryan Johnson was third in the folkstyle 100-pound novice division.

Easton Ham (40-pound rookie) was third in folkstyle and fourth in freestyle, Isaiah Blanco (65-pound intermediate) was third in folkstyle and fourth in freestyle, Shaun Mentaberry (145-pound cadet) was third in folkstyle and fourth in freestyle and Cody McKinnon (130-pound novice) placed third in freestyle and fourth in folkstyle.

Rylan Brower (50-pound rookie) finished third in folkstyle and fifth in freestyle, while Yahir Avalos (40-pound bantam) and Dante Cassinelli (65-pound bantam), both finished fourth in folkstyle. Quint Bell (98-pound schoolboy) was fourth in freestyle and sixth in folkstyle, Cade Billingsley (112-pound schoolboy) was fifth in folkstyle and Jonathon Green (80-pound novice) and Michael Venzor (105-pound schoolboy) were sixth in freestyle and folkstyle, respectively.
