Board of health seeks community member for dietician advisory group

CARSON CITY - The Nevada State Board of Health is seeking an individual from the public to join the Dietitian Advisory Group. The member will provide expertise and assistance in carrying out Advisory Group statutory duties in the practice, administration, licensing and disciplinary action of dietitians.

The Nevada State Board of Health is tasked with creating regulation and oversight for dietitians. The Board created the Dietitian Advisory Group to help carry out this function. The Nevada State Board of Health is responsible for appointing members and creating and overseeing the duties of the Group. Four members are licensed dietitians. The current vacancy is reserved for someone from the general public.

The public member should not be a current licensed dietitian. The term lasts four years with meetings at least annually and also as called by the Chair of the Advisory Group or at the direction of the Board of Health or the Health Division. There is no compensation for serving on the Dietitian Advisory Group. Meetings can be attended by teleconference.

Interested persons are asked to submit their name, phone number, email, and mailing address. They are asked to include a statement of up to 200 words describing their familiarity with the practice of dietetics, and what they would add to the advisory group.
