BMHS roof construction under way

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - Construction has started to install a new roof and paint on the Battle Mountain High School. The contractor will be tearing off and disposing of old material and reinstalling the new roof system.

As work progresses, the contractor will have areas roped off with security tape. Please stay clear of these areas, as tools, material, excessive dust, etc., may be present.

Applications of Tuff-Coat will be applied. Tuff-Coat is a low odor, heavy bodied, emulsified architectural wall coating.

Coraflon will also be applied. Coraflon is a fluoropolymer coating that is specifically designed to provide a uniform, durable, fade and chalk resistant finish to existing metal.

Applications of Rust-Go VOC Primer and Rust-Go Top Coat will be applied. Rust-Go Coatings are industrial coatings that are environmentally friendly.

Slight odors will occur while the products are being applied and curing. All products are Nevada V.O.C. compliant to ensure that excessive amounts of solvent vapors are not being released into the atmosphere.

School employees will be doing everything possible to keep fresh air circulating. Any employee, student, or visitor to the building affected by the odor should report to the building principal or the front office employees.

All of the products being used are approved products for use in Nevada with acceptable V.O.C.'s, but the increased temperatures can cause the solvents to flash off quicker resulting in a stronger odor presence than normal which will dissipate with time and cooler temperatures.

Construction will take from one to three months.

Stay away from all construction materials and equipment and please stay clear of all roped off areas. More information is available by contacting the district administrative office at (775) 635-2886.
