BMAP presents Tarantellas in January, Crab Feed in February

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The Battle Mountain Arts Presenters will present The Tarantellas on Jan. 26. The Tarantellas are a remarkable acoustic duo that specializes in playing the "legendary songs of Italy."

The Seattle duo, comprised of Richard Scalfani and Peter Cicero, will be presenting an educational assembly for the students of Eleanor Lemaire during the day and performing a concert for the public in that evening. Students will be entertained by romantic love songs, classic waltzes, haunting Sicilian melodies and wild Tarantella dances while being introduced to unique instruments like the Neapolitan Mandolin, Chromatic Mouth Organ and Friscalettu.

In addition to performing classical Italian songs, The Tarantellas also delight audiences with Italian-American favorites by Dean Martin, Al Martino and other great crooners from the 50's and 60's.

BMAP will be hosting a cocktail mixer and serving light refreshments at the Battle Mountain Civic Center prior to the public concert.

"Hosting a cocktail mixer is something we have never done before," said BMAP President Ami Rogers. "We decided to try it; hoping that more of the community will come out to mix, mingle and enjoy the concert. Of course, kids and families are still welcome to come to the public performance."

The cocktail mixer begins at 6 p.m. and the concert begins at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Adult tickets ($10) and Senior tickets ($5) include a free drink ticket. Student tickets ($5) and Family Passes ($20) do not include a drink tickets. As always BMAP will offer a special rate for families (immediate family only). Wine, beer and soda will also be available for purchase throughout the event.

The Battle Mountain Arts Presenters are dedicated to bringing diverse, professional performing arts experiences to rural Nevada. The group is 100 percent volunteer led and is open to anyone with a passion for the arts who would like to volunteer. BMAP relies on the generosity of local businesses, grant funding from the Nevada Arts Council, ticket sales from events and funds raised by their Annual Crab Feed to bring between three to five artists and the Missoula Children's Theatre to Battle Mountain each year.

Crab Feed tickets are on sale now! The Crab Feed will be held Feb. 11 at the Battle Mountain Civic Center. Dinner and dance tickets are $35 per person and include fresh Dungeness crab, spaghetti, coleslaw, baked beans, salad and French bread. Dinner is served at 6 p.m. followed by a dance at 8:30 p.m. JoyRide from Boise, Idaho, will be providing the live music this year (www.joyridemusic.com).

Dance-only tickets are available at the door at 8 p.m. The cost to attend the dance is $10 per person or $15 a couple. As always, there will be a no host bar, a wine corking fee, a silent dessert auction, a mystery basket raffle and a 50/50 raffle. Table sponsorship is also available for businesses.
