Bluegrass festival finds new home at Vesco Park

Third annual event scheduled for June 14

The Winnemucca Country & Bluegrass Festival is moving to Vesco Park this year and will be held on Saturday, June 14 from noon to 6 p.m.

The community can expect over 10 vendors with local crafts and businesses and five local bands. The headliner of the event is Lacy J. Dalton and other performers include Dusty Ham & the Smoking Guns, Wyatt Troxel and Whats Next.

This is the event's third year and the move to Vesco Park will offer attendees more shade and more room.

Last year, attendance doubled from the first year to nearly 400 people. Event planner Dawn Baldwin said she is optimistic about attendance this year, too.

"We hope it does the same thing again this year," she said.

Baldwin said she thinks the new location will be "amazing," and she is excited for people to come out and enjoy it.

"It's a good time to hang out and relax and listen to music," she said.

The festival will offer more than just crafts and live entertainment. Performer Wyatt Troxel will be setting up a "musical instrument petting zoo" which gives people the opportunity to check out a variety of musical instruments and even try their hands at playing them. There will also be arts and crafts and other activities for kids.

The event is B.Y.O.B. but food will be sold from Down Home Concession and La Tortilla Factory.

Shawnda Case, who is managing the vendors for the event, said there will be something for everyone at the festival. There will be a lot of small business ventures as well as homemade crafts and goods.

"We want to let people come in and promote themselves and their businesses," Case said.

She said Vesco Park will offer more room than the previous Pioneer Park location, so the more the merrier as far as vendors go. She said anyone interested in vending at the festival still has time to sign up. Case can be contacted at (775) 530-1104 for more information.[[In-content Ad]]
