Blood disorder clinic slated for April 18 in Winnemucca

WINNEMUCCA - The Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) of Nevada will hold a special clinic in Winnemucca on April 18 for those affected by inherited bleeding and clotting disorders and those who suffer with easy bruising, frequent nosebleeds or heavy periods.

Several times a year the HTC travels around Nevada to bring medical staff with expertise in diagnosing and treating inherited bleeding disorders to less populous areas of the state.

The clinic is being held at 50 Haskell St., Suite B, in Winnemucca. Appointments are available on Thursday, April 18, between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Patients are urged to make an appointment as soon as possible by calling (877) 732-1956 (toll free) to allow for registration and insurance verification.

Those without insurance can pay cash ($100) or based on income can receive treatment for free. No one seeking treatment for inherited bleeding disorders will be turned away.

A doctor or nurse practitioner along with a physical therapist and social worker will be available at the clinic.

Inherited bleeding disorders such as hemophilia and von Willebrand disease prevent blood from clotting.[[In-content Ad]]
