ELKO - The Bureau of Land Management, Elko District, Tuscarora Field Office is seeking public input until Sept. 5 in the development of an Environmental Assessment (EA) to conduct oil & gas exploration south of Elko by EFT Nevada LLC (EFT) as part of its oil and gas exploration lease.
The proposed project, located approximately 29 miles south of Elko, includes the installation of a well pad, a new access road and upgrading a portion of an existing access road for 28.6 acres of surface disturbance. Once these activities are complete, exploratory operations would commence and are proposed to be conducted during spring to fall (March - October) of 2015. Collectively, the proposed activities are referred to as the Cedar Ridge I Exploration Project. A detailed project description and map are located at http://bit.ly/CedarRidge1. The proposed project is not located within a Wild Horse Herd Management Area.
The BLM is seeking input on potential issues, impacts, and alternatives that should be addressed in an Environmental Assessment (EA). Comments and input should be submitted to the BLM as described below by Sept. 5, 2014. A public meeting is scheduled for Aug. 20, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Elko BLM Office, 3900 E. Idaho Street, Elko.
Written comments on the Cedar Ridge 1 Exploration Project should be mailed to: BLM Elko District, Attn: Tom Schmidt, 3900 E. Idaho Street, Elko, NV 89801, or via email to CedarRidge1oilwell@blm.gov. Upon completion, the EA for this project will be posted to the BLM website for a 30-day review period before a decision will be completed.
