BLM seeking applications for Summer Native American Youth Crew

CARSON CITY - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Carson City District invites you to spend your summer working and camping outside at some of Nevada's premier natural areas. You will gain valuable field experience while working on habitat improvement, restoration, and recreation projects. Projects may include trail construction and maintenance, hazardous fuels reduction, and habitat restoration. There are eight positions available and members from northern Nevada tribes are strongly encouraged to apply. The work will begin on May 19 and conclude on Aug. 14.

This is an AmeriCorps position with a Nevada Conservation Corps Crew; candidates will receive a living stipend of $3,500 for the entire 13-week summer term. Upon successful completion of the AmeriCorps term of service, members shall receive an additional education award in the amount of $1,468. This education award can be used toward federal or state-backed student loans or tuition or other associated course fees for a Title IV-accredited program.

To qualify, you must be between the ages of 17 and 25 years old and a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident, who has received a high school diploma or GED. All participants must be eligible to receive an AmeriCorps Education Award.
