On Aug. 4, Lander County Committee Against Domestic Violence placed another concrete bench in Elquist Park honoring victims of domestic violence and their families. The committee previously placed a bench at the Battle Mountain General Hospital entrance. The bench that was placed in Elquist Park was made possible by the Newmont Legacy Fund, Wells Fargo Bank and other private donations. The committee is currently gearing up for the annual Fun/Run/Walk on Oct. 5 beginning at 9 a.m. in Elquist Park. Those that would like to participate can pre-register with Michele Scovil at the juvenile office, 190 West 3rd St., (775) 635-2117, or mscovil@bmnv.com. Above, Lander County Committee Against Domestic Violence board members, left to right, Erin Gallegos, Sarah Edgar, Kayla Mauldin, Mary Yepez, Johna Reeves and Andressa Dinwiddie with the new bench.
