BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The Battle Mountain Wild Bunch Motorcycle Club held their "4th Annual Poker Run and Party in the Park" on July 27 - 28 at Lion's Park in Battle Mountain. On Friday and Saturday there were vendors in the park selling blankets, jewelry, cowboy artwork, and tattoos. The Wild Bunch hosted a booth selling all kinds of beverages and their t-shirts. There were raffle tickets for items donated, and raffle tickets for a 50/50 drawing. John Keiber won the poker run; Jan Ehlert won the 50/50 raffle; Dave and Linda Lindeman won a 50 caliber gun; Sheryl Gibson won a casino poker set; Jeff (no last name on ticket, and not present) won a shooter set; Richard (no last name on ticket, and not present) won a Harley Davidson Archive Collection; and Jack Hiset won a handmade quilt.
Pushing Back, the new local band in Battle Mountain played live both days and nights. The Wild Bunch had a second band scheduled for the night time performances, but while on tour they broke down in Kentucky and couldn't get things fixed to make it to Battle Mountain for the event.
There was a bounce house and face painting for kids. With temperatures teasing the 100-degree mark all weekend guests would come to the event, then leave to go cool off somewhere, and come back. The Wild Bunch had an area with water misters where people could cool off.
The Wild Bunch Motorcycle Club holds this annual rally for all those that are interested in riding motorcycles, beginners and veterans. Motorcycle rallies can be for locals and more important they attract travelling bikers to the events which can bring a little bit more business to town during the summer.
With Battle Mountain being on Interstate 80 it is a perfect place for rally to keep growing. All guests have a lot in common and that is the interest in motorcycles, and it's not about the destination, it's about the journey.
The Battle Mountain Wild Bunch Motorcycle Club appreciates its guests and all of it donors and sponsors that help them put on this annual event. 'Til next year, twist that grip and keep your knees in the breeze.
