BATTLE MOUNTAIN - With the Thanksgiving holiday over, the high school sports season gets back underway this weekend for Battle Mountain High School.
The Longhorn varsity girls and boys basketball squads will be in Wells beginning on Thursday. The tournament runs through Saturday.
After traveling to Virginia City the next week, Battle Mountain plays its first home games when it hosts the Longhorn Invitational on Friday, Dec. 16, and Saturday, Dec. 17.
The junior varsity basketball teams travel to Lovelock on Friday and Saturday for the Pershing County Tournament. The Longhorn JV's open their home slate of games the following week on Friday, Dec. 9, and Saturday, Dec. 10.
The Battle Mountain wrestling team travels to Ely this Friday and Saturday for the White Pine Tournament. The Longhorns have a quick turnaround, hosting Elko in a dual on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 4 p.m.
