A 59-year-old Battle Mountain resident was killed Feb. 16 at around 6:20 p.m. on Frontage Road 401, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
James Stallard died after his 2004 red two-door Mitsubishi Eclipse drifted off the roadway, causing him to over-correct and swerved back and forth several times.
The vehicle rolled and came to rest on its tires, partially in the westbound travel lane.
He was ejected. The NHP is investigating whether he was wearing a seatbelt. He may have been wearing one but it could have been fastened improperly, said an NHP spokesperson.
There were no passengers in the vehicle and the cause of the crash is being investigated. It is unknown whether speed was a factor. The speed limit on the road is 55 mph.[[In-content Ad]]
