BATTLE MOUNTAIN - With tournament play out of the way for the season, the Battle Mountain High School junior varsity volleyball team hit the road for two matches against Lahontan League foes.
The Lady Longhorns traveled to Yerington on Friday and were defeated 25-20 and 25-11 by the Lady Lions. Battle Mountain bounced back Saturday afternoon with a 23-25, 25-18 and 15-4 win over Pershing County in Lovelock.
In the loss to Yerington, Brooklyn Quintana had three aces and two assists, while Gabby Penola and Caitlyn Warwood added three kills and three digs, respectively. Kaleah Torgerson had two assists.
Battle Mountain served well in its match with Pershing County, as Amy Doornek and Torgerson each had six, with Penola adding five. In addition, Torgerson had five assists and Penola three kills. Andresa Dinwiddie finished with four digs and three kills.
"We played pretty good this weekend except for the second set against Yerington," said BMHS head coach Roger Wallock. "We continue to serve well and are trying to play attack volleyball. Anytime you win in Lovelock it's a memorable experience, and the girls were very excited."
Battle Mountain makes the short trip to Winnemucca Friday to play Lowry at 4 p.m.[[In-content Ad]]
