Battle Mountain JV falls to Spring Creek in two sets

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The Battle Mountain High School junior varsity volleyball closed out its homecoming week with a 25-13 and 25-9 loss to Spring Creek Saturday in Battle Mountain.

With the loss the Lady Longhorns dropped to 0-5 in the Ruby Mountain League and 10-10 overall. Caitlyn Warwood and Kaleah Torgerson had four digs and four assists, respectively, and Gabby Penola finished with two kills.

"We did not play very well from the beginning of this match," said BMHS head coach Roger Wallock. "We really seem to have a hard time playing on our own court for whatever reason. The girls have improved all season in every aspect of the game but on Saturday we did not show it."

The Lady Longhorns were scheduled to host Pershing County on Tuesday and results were not available at press time. Battle Mountain hits the road for three consecutive matches starting today at Spring Creek for a 5:30 p.m. match. The road trip continues Friday in West Wendover for a 5 p.m. (MST) start. The Lady Longhorns move over to Ely on Saturday to face White Pine at noon.
