BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The Battle Mountain High School girls golf team finished fifth last Thursday at Chimney Creek Golf Course in Wells, with a score of 507.
The Elko JV won the tournament with a 418, Wells was second at 454, Round Mountain (454) was third and White Pine (485) placed fifth.
Elko's Bailey Watson shot a 93 and took the top medalist honors. She was followed by Wells' Selina Johnny, who carded a 94 to finish second.
Bria Jones led the way with a 104 for Battle Mountain, while Cassidy Torrence shot a 124.
"It was the first tournament we did not use double par format," said BMHS head coach Paul Tremayne. "It showed where we are and the girls have a lot of work to do."
Battle Mountain returns to action today at West Wendover at 10 a.m. It is the final regular-season meet before the Lady Longhorns prepare for the 2A State Tournament Oct. 10 - 11 at Ruby View Golf Course in Elko.
