BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The Battle Mountain Burners added some extra color and class to Elquist Park in Battle Mountain on Saturday, Aug. 24, when they hosted their 4th annual car show and shine.
There were approximately 30 classes people could qualify to win awards in and people showed up from all over the state to compete.
The "Best of Show" award went to a 1934 Ford Tudor owned by Carmen Taylor of Spring Creek; and the "People's Choice" award went to Cliff and Jewel Hayden from Golconda with a 1958 Chevrolet pickup. Winnemucca car enthusiasts were recognized with an award from the Battle Mountain Burners for their great participation in the Battle Mountain show and shine.
The Battle Mountain Burners members hosted their own booth displaying awards, and selling raffle tickets. The group auctioned off a Burners centerpiece for $125, which the club matched and in turn donated the cash to a fellow enthusiast currently in the hospital.
There were food vendors and craft vendors, along with free swimming at the public pool. The Burners also hosted a Hot Wheels race, sack races, and a hula hoop contest for the youngsters.
There were raffle prizes being won all day. Truxton Price won a $1,000 gift certificate for Summit Racing and Chance Little won a first place cash prize for the poker run. John Scovil of DJ Connection kept the park in tune for the entire day.
The weather was perfect for the Burners to show off their beautiful cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Guests were welcome to spend the evening enjoying a movie in the park - the older version of "Catch Me if You Can."[[In-content Ad]]
