BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The members of the Battle Mountain Burners held their third annual car show in Elquist Park on Aug. 25.
The weather was perfect for the show, with the sun shining down on some beautiful automobiles in the park that day. There were all kinds of activities for young and old, games, raffles and contests.
The Burners are a well-organized group and if anyone had any questions at the event all they would have to do is walk toward a table with the hosts sporting yellow Burners shirts and information for the event would be available.
The Burners are some great hosts. Members are Brian Garner (president), Tra Little (vice president), Alicia Price (secretary), Ginger Garner (treasurer), Wally Robinson, Shelly Morrison, Todd Price, Gina Little, Bob and Sherry Wood, Gordon and Cheryl Hunt, Daun and Donna Bohall, Doug Mills and Dave Broughton.
There were food booths, lemonade booths, gift booths, a booth with auto tire information, wooden signs, fragrance and makeup products, crafts and more.
There was no cause to leave the park for food. There were Indian tacos, pupusas, funnel cakes, all kinds of popcorn, hamburgers, hot dogs and plenty of beverages.
Thanks to Mother Nature and the people that care for the parks, the Burners had a terrific green canvas to park their sparkling old and new cars, trucks and motorcycles throughout the park for their guests to admire and dream about.
At 6 p.m. the Burners presented the lucky winners with plaques. Altogether, 65 cars registered for the event, down seven from last year. The farthest participant came from Boise, Idaho.
That's not really a bad turnout considering the price of fuel and it is major for this event. Those cars run on fuel. Some are driven to the event and some are brought on trailer from all over the state of Nevada.

This was their courting car. It has hauled cows and horses. They went on their honeymoon and went on anniversary trips in this truck. The truck was restored by Wally Robinson, friends and family.
At dusk the Burners held a movie in the park, thanks to the new theatre system acquired by the Battle Mountain Chamber of Commerce. The revving engines of "American Graffitti" had guests relaxed and seated in Elquist Park for a couple hours at least.
The tunes and the cars cruising were an excellent way to end the Battle Mountain Burners Third Annual Car Show. To close the show, the Burners and Roller Coaster Fireworks put on a terrific fireworks show. Nothing puts icing on a cake like the fireworks in Battle Mountain.
The Battle Mountain Burners support the community by donating to other events, causes, Christmas and Thanksgiving alert programs.
Their car show is one of the top events for locals and guests that are visiting or passing through Battle Mountain. The Burners also show off those beautiful cars in some of Battle Mountains great holiday parades.
The Battle Mountain Burners did a great job bringing the "Hot August Nights" celebration to Battle Mountain. This event has turned into an event looked forward too by many locals and guests.
