Battle Mountain boys earn shutout victory over White Pine Aragonez scores twice for Longhorns

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The Battle Mountain High School boys soccer team ended a five-match losing streak in a big way with a 6-0 win over White Pine Saturday in Battle Mountain to close out homecoming week.

The Longhorns (3-8 Humboldt League, 4-11 overall) scored three goal in each half to pick up their second win of the season over White Pine.

"We played our best game of the season so far," said BMHS head coach Mark Lake. "We worked very hard on passing, possession and finishing and the results were apparent today. Four members of our team were able to find the back of the net today."

Oscar Aragonez led Battle Mountain with a pair of goals, while Marco Rangel added a goal and two assists. David Castellon-Escobedo and Humberto Rios each had goal, as did Longhorn goalie Juan Lomeli. Lomeli also had six saves, as he picked up the shut out win.

Battle Mountain plays host to Fernley Friday at 2 p.m. and Yerington Saturday at 11 a.m.
