BATTLE MOUNTAIN - Thanks to the generosity of GoldCorp and the employees at the Marigold Mine, the Battle Mountain Arts Presenters (BMAP) organization was able to purchase some much-needed sound equipment.
"It has been a challenge for us all year to provide professional quality sound equipment and meet the technical rider requirements of the performing artists on our roster," said Ami Rogers, president of the Battle Mountain Arts Presenters.
The sound equipment at the Battle Mountain Civic Center, where most performances are held, is designed to accommodate conferences and public speaking but is inadequate for live musical performances which require a multitude of feeds from microphones, speakers and instruments. Renting sound equipment is very expensive and is not feasible for the small group, whose main sources of income are proceeds from the annual crab feed and grants.
BMAP is committed to keeping ticket prices reasonable so that the arts are accessible to everyone. Last year, every artist or group participated in community outreach activities, engaging seniors and students in grades K-12. The sound equipment will enable the group to continue to bring in professional performing artists, including dancers, singers and musicians.
"We are looking forward to next year's presenting season and to being able to better meet the needs of the artists coming in. We are very grateful for the donation," said Rogers.
