A huge thunderstorm struck the Battle Mountain area the night of Sept. 4, bringing with it rain and lightning. It was reported to have washed out a few roads and caused power outages. This shot, taken in Battle Mountain by Tammy Burden, shows an amazing lightning display that was talked about around town the next day. Burden said it was one of the best lightning storms she has seen in the 17 years she has lived in Battle Mountain.
