BATTLE MOUNTAIN - Roller Coaster Fireworks and Atlas Towing Service, in conjunction with Bikes-N-More in Winnemucca, sponsored the perfect attendance program again.
The perfect attendance program was established to give those students earning perfect attendance any time during the year the credit they deserve for their hard work and effort.
In order to receive perfect attendance, children must not have more than three tardies in any given quarter.
The perfect attendance program was handled in the following way:
1. Every nine weeks each student (DK-3) with perfect attendance for that nine weeks receives a certificate and has his/her name put in a drawing. Each student was then eligible for one of the eight $25 cash drawings, which were drawn at the end of the year.
2. Students with four quarters of perfect attendance received $25 cash. In addition, he or she was put into a separate drawing for the bicycle. The bike was purchased according to the age and size of the student.
Together with representatives from Roller Coaster Fireworks and Atlas Towing Service, the bike was presented to the student and pictures taken for the newspaper.
This year, Earl and Red Cassorla from Roller Coaster Fireworks, along with Jolena Ayers, representing Atlas Towing Service, were on hand to help with the presentations. Red Cassorla was celebrating his 98th birthday, so the entire student body sang him a hearty "Happy Birthday."
Eliza Pierce Elementary School had four students who hadn't missed any school during the 2012-2013 year. They were Thomas Campbell, Christina Garcia, Sean Minchey-Villa and Christopher Zamarripa. Christina Garcia was the proud winner of the bicycle.
Nine students from Mary S. Black Elementary School had perfect attendance for the entire year. They were Brynae Hamby, Lilliana Haney, Alyssa Harris, Sophia Sherve, Jenean Carpenter, Diane Drown, Evan Gonzalez, Kolbie Mace, Aydan Samuelson, Dalton Shake and Javier Tovar. Diane Drown was the lucky winner of the bicycle.
Winners of the first quarter $25 cash drawings were Jacob Stillwell and Garrett Cosper. Second quarter winners were Sean Minchey-Villa and Brynnlee Freeman. Quarter three winners were Josie Kennedy and Jenean Carpenter, and winners for the fourth quarter were Alyssa Andrade and Alyssa Harris.
