Arts Council launches website

The Northern Nevada Arts Council is hoping to reach more people and inform them of upcoming events in the community with its website that was launched over a week ago.

The website, www.artsinwinnemucca.com, is a fully functioning web page with an online email submission section that allows contact with the council's board members.

The Northern Nevada Arts Council was founded in 1972 and has had one prior website but it wasn't widely known or accessed, according to member Jean Kinney who created the new site.

Kinney said within the next three months, the new site should be listed on Google and other search engines which will hopefully give it more exposure.

"The goal is to reach more people and let them know what is upcoming," Kinney said.

Kinney said people in the community often say, "Oh, I wish I had known about that," after an event or performance has already passed. She hopes the website will inform people of those events prior to their occurrence. The more people who get involved in the arts, the better, she said.

Kinney said she hopes the website will spread the word about the diversity of performances northern Nevada has to offer.

"It's another way to reach more people," she said.

Site visitors can also send suggestions for events and performances to be posted on the calendar page. Events not only in Winnemucca, but also in northern Nevada in general, are welcome, Kinney said.

NoNAC is a non-profit organization "dedicated to providing the best of amateur and professional entertainment to north central Nevada," according to the website. The council presents concerts, live theater and a children' s summer theater locally. The council's entities are White Sage Theater and the Winnemucca Civic Chorus.

The council puts on several live performances annually and most are held at the Martin Hotel. Each summer, NoNAC puts on a two-week musical theater workshop for children in collaboration with the Missoula Children's Theater.

The White Sage Theater group has several upcoming shows this spring: "Dial M for Murder," "The Importance of Being Ernest," and "Twelve Angry Women."

A full list of NoNAC events can be found on their new website, which will be updated on a regular basis with new information and listings.[[In-content Ad]]
