Area women invited to Humboldt Hospice Black Dress Gala

The Humboldt Volunteer Hospice has planned a special celebration just for women.

The "Dames-N-Design Gala Event" is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the East Hall of the Winnemucca Convention Center. Tickets are $35 each; tables for eight are $240.

Humboldt Volunteer Executive Director Sherry Smith said this will be one night area women won't want to miss.

"Grab your girlfriends, put on your favorite little black dress and join us," she said. "This event is all about celebrating women."

Smith said the evening will feature a fashion show, music, food and a no-host bar. Additionally vendors will be on hand with plenty of exciting products and services specifically geared toward women.

"We want everyone to participate," said Smith, "from women in business to stay-at-home moms. All women are magnificent, and what better way to celebrate than a lovely night out making new friends, relaxing, and viewing the season's latest fashions."

Humboldt Volunteer Hospice has partnered with the Winnemucca Downtown Business Association to host the event. All proceeds will help Hospice in its mission to care for, honor and support individuals in the Humboldt County community who are suffering from a chronic, debilitating or terminal illness.

All hospice care is provided at no cost to patients. Families do not need a doctor's referral in order to access hospice services.

Tickets for the Dames-N-Design Gala may be purchased at the Frugal Flamingo, 720 E. Fourth Street, or at Le French Twiste, 357 S. Bridge Street.

Smith said the gala is a formal black and white event. "Have fun with it," she said, "and enjoy the chance to really get dressed up."

She added, "This is going to be a great evening."
