Ardis Zetave Wilkerson Sweeney, 85, of Winnemucca, passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011. She was born on April 18, 1926, in Reno to Louis and Mary Wilkerson. She was raised in Midas and lived the majority of her life in Winnemucca with stays in Bidwell, Calif. She married Irvin Sweeney on March 23, 1947, in Winnemucca.
She loved to knit, crochet and sew. She was a great cook and a wonderful grandmother who cherished her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Irvin Sweeney; her children, Larry Sweeney, Gary (Joy) Sweeney, Michael (Sharon) Sweeney, Bernie (Kathy) Sweeney and Lisa Sweeney; eight grandchildren, Nicole Sweeney, Megan Parry, Dustin Caumiant, Jami Caumiant, Cody Caumiant, Winston Sweeney, Lydia Sweeney, and Elisabeth Fitzgerald; one great grandchild, Draven Morris. She is also survived by her sister Mary Thompson and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Mary Wilkerson; her brothers and sisters, Byron Wilkerson, Al Wilkerson, Noreen Murdock, Laura Knezevich, Edna Timmons, Leonard Wilkerson, and Edgar Wilkerson; two grandsons, Paul Sweeney and James Sweeney.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at the Albertson Funeral Home. Burial has taken place in Fort Bidwell, Calif. Those wishing to leave condolences for the family may do so at www.albertsonfuneralhome.com.
