Anthony John "Tony" Silva left us unexpectedly on June 17, 2012. Tony was born May 17, 1971, to Diane (McClelland) Umland and Tony Silva Sr. in Fallon. He grew up in Fallon, Loomis, Calif., and Battle Mountain.
Tony loved life, especially being outdoors - hunting, fishing and of course racing. Some of the family's fondest memories are being with Tony in the desert, laughing and singing along with whatever music was playing. Drilling was his career and he enjoyed the job very much, but he enjoyed his co-workers more. Many of his stories were about the escapades he and his buddies had pulled off, or were planning.
Tony's greatest joy in life was his children, Mackenzie Christine Silva, also known as Macaroni, and Anthony Virgil William Silva, known best as Bubba. His kids were his heart and soul and the focus of his entire life. Bonnie (Souza) Silva and Tony doted on their children and gave them every opportunity they could. Cassidy and Erin Torrance, his adored step-daughters were the other lights of his life and from these two young women he learned the value of children and how much he enjoyed being a father.
Tony is preceded in death by his grandparents, several aunts and uncles and his beloved brother, Virgil Harry Umland. He is survived by his parents Diane Umland and Tony Silva Sr., his children Mackenzie and Anthony, the mother of his children, Bonnie (Souza) Silva, his two step-daughters Cassidy and Erin Torrance, his brother Christopher Silva and his sister Victoria Brewer, along with numerous cousins and of course, his many friends and "family" in Battle Mountain.
He will live in our hearts forever.
Services will be held Friday, June 29, 2012, at the Battle Mountain Civic Center, internment at the cemetery with a potluck gathering following at the Civic Center.
