FALLON - ESPN's Friday Night Fights will telecast Rural Rumble 14 on Aug. 8 from the Churchill County Fairgrounds in Fallon.
Six foot, 6 inch Chinese heavyweight Zhang Zhilei will make his professional debut at the event. Zhilei is a member of the Dynasty boxing organization founded by Dino Duva, and Terry and Tommy Lane, sons of Nevada's legendary boxing referee and Boxing Hall of Fame member Mills Lane. The fights will be announced by the voices of ESPN boxing's Teddy Atlas and Todd Grisham.
Zhilei, who captured the Olympic silver medal in Beijing in 2008, is under advisement of five-time, undisputed heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield. Zhilei is the first fighter to be promoted by Dynasty and its trainer Duva, son of Hall of Fame trainer/manager Lou Duva.
"I want to thank my great friend Lou DiBella and the entire staff at Dynasty Boxing for bringing this ESPN show to Fallon and for working with us to provide a great international platform for Zhang Zhilei's pro debut," said Duva. In addition, we want to extend our appreciation to the city of Fallon, and Mayor Ken Tedford Jr. for providing this unique venue. It has been a long journey over four years and thousands of miles to cultivate the relationship with the Chinese Boxing Federation that has allowed us to make this fight happen. Fallon is the last stop and the linchpin in making this dream come true."
