BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The 2012 Battle Mountain Arts Presenters (BMAP) Annual Crab Feed was once again a sold-out affair. BMAP held their annual event at the Battle Mountain Civic Center on Feb. 11.

The event is great for family and friends to go out and enjoy a little Valentine's celebration with a dinner of all the crab you can eat, spaghetti, cole slaw, beans, salad and French bread. Before and during dinner guests can purchase raffle tickets for the "Mystery Basket Raffle" and the 50/50 raffle, plus bid on some awesome desserts at the "Silent Dessert Auction."

This year as a bonus BMAP had a live auction, with the winner bidding for a brand-new barbecue grill. The organization raised $240 on that auction alone. Guests were bidding well over $100 for some of the beautiful desserts made by volunteers for the "Silent Dessert Auction" fundraiser. The "Mystery Basket" raffle is always a great hit; the volunteers and members of BMAP gather donations from various sponsors and supporters and then they put together themed baskets for the raffle.

Prizes were being given out and announced by emcee Tony Moore during all the band breaks. This year BMAP brought in live music by a band called "JoyRide" out of Boise, Idaho.

BMAP is responsible for bring the arts to the Battle Mountain community. Whether it be at the Battle Mountain Civic Center or at the local schools themselves, BMAP brings in at least six artists a year for the enjoyments of students and the community. They are also responsible for the Missoula Children's Theatre presentation every year. BMAP relies on the support of local individuals and businesses along with grant funding from the Nevada Arts Council.

The doors opened at the Battle Mountain Civic Center for the annual crab feed at 5 p.m. There was a no host bar, and tickets for the dinner were $35. Tickets to attend the dance only were $10 per person, or $15 per couple.

Once again the Battle Mountain Arts Presenters members, their families and their volunteers have pulled off a well-enjoyed evening for entire groups of families and friends to enjoy in Battle Mountain. BMAP showed its appreciation to all its sponsors and supporters with a special "thank you" on each table.

Throughout the year BMAP will be announcing arts events and programs that will be brought to the community. The organization works hard bringing the arts to the Battle Mountain community that some people may not see at all if not brought to Battle Mountain. Their success is based on the teamwork of members, local volunteers and supporters, and attendance at events. If anyone is interested in joining or volunteering for the BMAP events, call or contact organization President Ami Rogers.
