Anna Marie Burhans passed away peacefully June 6, 2012, at Rosewood Rehabilitation Hospital in Reno. Anna was born in Winnemucca, on Sept. 18, 1933, to Jerome & Justine Etchegoyhen. Annie was raised and educated in Winnemucca where she met and fell in love with her husband Robert Burhans; they married on July 4, 1956, and celebrated 48 years together.
Annie was ambitious in all she did through out her life. She opened her own business in the Sonoma Inn ~"Anna Marie's Beauty Shop" after completing cosmetology school in Reno and obtaining her degree. She then enjoyed being a teacher's aide at Sonoma Heights Elementary School before going on to obtain her Broker/Salesman Licenses. She was employed by Tom Johnstone Realty and Vision West Realty until her retirement in 1997.
Annie is survived by her son Jon (Tauna), grandchildren Cassi Burhans, Ben Burhans and Annie Johnson (Randy), brother Jerome Etchegoyhen Jr., stepsister Ethel Hornbarger and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, Jerome and Justine Etchegoyhen, husband Bob, sisters Eileen Etchegoyhen, Stella Mendieta, Juanita Gabica and Normie Schwartz.
Annie enjoyed working hard, bowling, golfing, weekends at the Paradise Valley house, watching sports with her husband, spending time with her family and anything that had to do with her grandchildren Annie, Ben & Cassi, whom she called her ABC kids.
There will be no services at her request, with a family celebration at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Annie's dear friend, Beverly Mendiola.
