Amodei visits Winnemucca

WINNEMUCCA - U.S. Rep. Mark Amodei, R-Nev., hosted "meet and greet" sessions in northern Nevada earlier this week, including a stop in Winnemucca on Tuesday. Mayor Di An Putnam estimated about 60 people attended the local event at City Hall, with the city council chambers meeting room full and people standing in the hall.

Putnam said the local concerns addressed by Amodei included the possible closure of rural post offices, land issues, the difficulty businesses have in dealing with federal bureaucracies, the reduction of veteran benefits and the price of gas, among others.

"We did not solve any of the issues at the meet and greet, however I believe that most people attending went away with a better understanding of Amodei's position and the complexity of working in Washington," Putnam said. "We are fortunate to live in a state that still has a 'roots' connection with their congressmen. I look forward to the next meet and greet and involving even more of the community."
